RESIDENTS and shop owners are concerned that plans for a one-way traffic system and double yellow lines will stop them parking near their homes and businesses.
People living in Tonge Moor Road do not want Bolton Council to impose full time waiting restrictions on parts of the main road, and install traffic lights at the junction with Castleton Street. The council wants to change the traffic system to make life easier for motorists when the Castle Hill Community Learning Resource Centre opens.
Residents are concerned they will not be able to park near their homes and will have to leave their cars in back streets, which could be dangerous. The owners of Elle Hair and Beauty salon, Cheshire Farm Produce shop and the Vetcare surgery are worried that customers will have nowhere to park and anyone delivering to their businesses will have to park some distance away. Bolton's planning committee will discuss the proposal on Wednesday.
