WAYS of stopping a repeat of Hyde GP Harold Shipman's murders are to be examined shortly.

A series of seminars are to take place over the next two weeks, designed to tighten up the system that allowed Shipman to kill at least 215 patients.

Experts will look at the coroner's system and death certification.

Ideas generated from the seminars are likely to be used by Dame Janet Smith, the Shipman inquiry chairman, from Bolton, in her final recommendations to the Government.
