TRACY Shaw's first major theatrical role after quitting Coronation Street will be in the controversial drama The Blue Room.
She will appear in a touring production of the play which will come to The Lowry in May.
The play, which follows a series of sexual encounters between a diverse selection of characters, received a great deal of publicity when movie star Nicole Kidman appeared naked on stage in the lead role.
Since then it has proved a success in The Octagon, Bolton, a production of which was staged two years ago starring Emmerdale's Anna Brecon and Coronation Street's Stephen Beckett.
Tracy, who is due to appear in her role as Maxine Peacock in The Street for the last time in the next few weeks, will star opposite Jason Connery in the play from May 19 to 24.
It is one of the high profile productions set to be staged as part of The Lowry's new season of drama.
