WANDERERS have defended the 'kids for a quid' initiative which has been slammed by some season ticket holders.

The offer is open for Saturday's Reebok clash with Fulham, and means up to two children under the age of 16 can purchase a ticket for £1 when accompanied by a full paying adult.

That has upset some season ticket holders who feel they have already paid the full amount for the Premiership fixture.

But a club spokesman said: "Let's not forget that junior season ticket holders receive up to ten matches free of charge when they purchased their ticket at the start of the season.

"The club prides itself on offering arguably the best value season tickets in the Premiership to all our season ticket holders.

"We want to stress that we will never undermine our season ticket holders and we appreciate their commitment and support.

"The club will continue to introduce such initi-

atives to help attract new supporters to the Reebok Stadium. It will always be on rare occasions and we don't anticipate introducing more that two initiatives each season.

"Season ticket holders can also take advantage of this offer by inviting additional children to purchase a ticket for the Fulham match."

BWSA chairman Tom Hodgkinson understood the feelings of some fans but said: "You will never satisfy everyone, but if this boosts the gate for an important game then it is the best thing to do."

Tickets for the FA Cup replay at Sunderland on Tuesday are on general sale from today at £15 for adults and £8 concessions.
