The erection of a second flag pole outside the Knowsley Street building means the national flag can always be flown, even when Bury Council wants to honour visiting foreign dignitaries by raising their national flag.
Bury Council Leader, Cllr John Byrne, said: "I am delighted we will now be flying the Union flag every day the town hall is open."
Tomorrow the Mayor of Bury, Cllr John Smith, will be present for a special ceremonial raising of the Union flag on the new pole.
