WHY oh why do the people of Bolton keep putting this council back in power -- albeit only just?
Councillor Harkin has instilled me to write this letter after his proposed crazy intention for "sleeping policemen" to be installed on all residential roads. This is utter madness and I cannot believe it has cross-party support. Why, on roads that are accident free?
By golly, he will have a fight on his hands if he tries to do this here. The roads of Bolton already remind me of "Noddy land" with the endless, sometimes confusing, markings, never mind introducing obstacle courses!
What sort of council spends a fortune of our money reducing the main ring road around Bolton to one lane? As usual with a Labour council government, the minority rule the vast majority.
I already avoid areas with these raised humps, mainly because of possible damage to my car. We would all obviously want zero accidents, but it will never happen, no matter how dictatorial this Labour council is. The proposed intention will create bad-tempered, frustrated, angry drivers, who will be forced to take risks they otherwise would never dream of doing.
