EAGLEY Res and Fulwood Res served up a New Year thriller at Dunscar Bridge as they shared no less than 10 goals in a 5-5 draw.

All looked lost for the villagers at the break when they trailed 4-0 to the West Lancs Division One Reserves runaway leaders but they stormed back with goals by Phil Roberts (2), Sean Hill (2) and Mel Bentham

With defeat staring them in the face, the Eagley lads threw caution to the wind on the restart as they decided attack was the best form of defence and were rewarded when they gained a penalty on 55 mins which Phil Roberts converted. This signalled the most remarkable of comebacks as further goals from Sean Hill and Mel Bentham reduced the arrears to 4-3.

However all seemed lost when Fulwood broke to go 5-3 in front with only five minutes left at the clock. Undeterred, Eagley swept forward and grabbed a further two goals in the final minute through Phil Roberts and man of the match Sean Hill to gain a share of the points in a most memorable match.
