SHAKERS player-manager Andy Preece has paid tribute to his board of directors as they continue to back his judgement.

The Bury boss had a meeting with the board at Gigg Lane on Friday afternoon and came out delighted at the positive noises that he heard.

He also praised the delicate fiscal balancing act they have in place that is crucial in keeping the club afloat.

For his part Preece recognises the part he has to play in the arrangement and has been busy wheeling and dealing with four players leaving the club on loan deals in the last week.

Their loss has been countered by Liam George having his contract extended for another four weeks while Lenny Johnrose and Colin Woodthorpe's services have been secured for another month.

Through the out door are striker Gareth Seddon who has signed for Nationwide Conference outfit Northwich Victoria while midfielder Steve Gunby and full-back John Gaynor have joined struggling UniBond Premier club Hyde United.

However, a fourth player out on loan, defender Nicky Hill, could be back at Gigg Lane for the foreseeable future after picking up a nasty hamstring injury while playing for local Conference side Leigh RMI.

"It was a really positive meeting and I couldn't ask for any more backing from the board," declared Preece.

"They told me exactly what the situation is regarding the club's finances and allayed any fears that I might have had.

"They are continuing to back me with the lads who are working on a month-to-month basis and couldn't have been any more fair.

"My relationship with them couldn't be any better and we will continue to work together to take the club forward.

"It's a two-way thing and we, the management and players, are well aware that we must keep doing the business on the pitch.

"It's frustrating at times but the I understand the position the board are in and it must be difficult for them.

"We are up there challenging and want to get promoted but they can't jeopardise the club's existence, it's a tough balancing act."
