TV steeplejack Fred Dibnah has been honoured for his service to Bolton's industrial heritage.
Fred received the Gerald Taylor Vocational Service Award from Bolton Rotary Club at a ceremony yesterday
The award is given each year to a person considered to have made a "significant contribution to the educational, artistic, cultural or scientific life of Bolton."
Fred, of Radcliffe Road, Darcy Lever, is well known for his passionate enthusiasm of Britain's industrial heritage and his down-to-earth way of explaining engineering to his TV audience. He remains devoted to Bolton, where he still lives and continues the steeplejack business which first brought him to the public's attention.
He said he was honoured to receive the award -- named after a former president of the club -- at the ceremony at Smithills Coaching House.
