ANGRY residents in Horwich are demanding that Bolton Council sort out their "dangerous" pavements and footpaths.

More than 50 residents from Grace Street, Robinson Street and Dixon Street have written letters of complaint to the council about the pavements, which they claim are a safety hazard to pedestrians.

They claim paths have broken and uneven kerbstones and the grids are blocked up, especially in the back streets, and want the council to clean and maintain them properly.

Les Wooff, aged 65, of Grace Street, said: "The back streets are not safe for pedestrians, and we believe that if action isn't taken then someone will have a nasty accident.

"The paths need urgent attention -- the kerbstones are either broken or uneven -- and the back streets are generally a mess.

"The streets are not only unsafe for pedestrians, but an eyesore to visitors who come into Horwich."

A spokesman for Bolton Council said they would look into the complaints made by the residents.

They must leave with a terrible impression after seeing the state of our streets.
