I WOULD like to express support to the objections raised regarding the construction of three blocks of flats with direct access/exit on to Stonyhurst Avenue.
In response to Mr Moorhouse's letter, David Monk claims closing the access/exit of the two existing properties on to Blackburn Road, and by feeding in excess of 24 additional vehicles on to Stonyhurst Avenue to join Blackburn Road, will make it a safer situation.
I find this statement untenable. The volume of traffic on Blackburn Road has reached unprecedented levels at most times, and especially at peak times, and any proposed plans which exacerbate this problem should be given serious consideration by our planning officers and councillors.
This is an item which should feature in discussion at the next Astley Bridge and Bromley Cross Forum tomorrow.
