ALL you need to know aboiut the visitors

Ground: Stadium of Light

Nickname: The Black Cats

Manager: Howard Wilkinson

Position in table: 18th

Top scorer: Flo (six)

Last time out: Premiership - Man Utd 2 Sunderland 1

How they lined up: Macho, Wright, Craddock, McCartney, Kilbane, McCann (Williams), Thirlwell, Stewart (Oster), Phillips, Flo.

Selection update: Sunderland have been boosted by news that both Gavin McCann and Michael Gray should be available for Saturday.

McCann was withdrawn after only 14 minutes of the Black Cats' cruel New Year's Day defeat at Manchester United, feeling ill.

While Gray missed the Old Trafford visit altogether after being forced to pull out, suffering from an inflamed tendon in his hamstring.

But both are expected to recover in time to face Wanderers as Sunderland bid to relieve the tension of their relegation battle by embarking on a decent cup run.

French starlet David Bellion is also expected to be available after shrugging off a heel injury.

Last six games played: Man Utd lost 2-1, Southampton lost 2-1, Leeds lost 2-1, West Brom drew 2-2, Liverpool won 2-1, Man City lost 3-0.

Form guide: Howard Wilkinson and Steve Cotterill do not seem to be steadying the ship on Wearside. Sunderland have won just two league games since sacking Peter Reid back in October.

In their past nine matches they have lost seven times, and have scored just 15 times in the league all season.

They have won one away game in the Premiership, but had a good run in the Worthington Cup - which included an impressive victory at Highbury - until losing to Sheffield United at the last 16 stage.
