Wanderers' FA Cup third round replay with Sunderland has been snubbed by TV, with ties between lower league clubs being chosen instead.

Despite both Wanderers and the Black Cats being Premiership sides, the cup replays between Dagenham & Redbridge and Plymouth Argyle and Coventry City and Cardiff City will be shown by Sky TV.

That means Wanderers fans must make the 300 mile round-trip to the Stadium of Light if they wish to watch next Tuesday's game, which kicks off at 8pm rather than 7.45pm.

Wanderers' Premiership fixture at Newcastle United has been confirmed for Wednesday, January 22 with a 7.45pm kick-off. The game could have taken place on the following Saturday if both teams had been eliminated from the FA Cup.

Although Bobby Robson's team were knocked out by Wolves, Wanderers' replay with Sunderland means it would be too late to rearrange the St James' Park fixture.

Meanwhile both Sam Allardyce and Graeme Souness were remaining tight-lipped after the Whites were drawn to play Blackburn in the fourth round.

Allardyce was not ready to comment as his team must still overcome Sunderland, while Souness's knock out specialists have the immediate concern of tonight's Worthington Cup semi-final with Manchester United.

Wanderers and Blackburn met in the FA Cup at the fifth round stage two seasons ago with the two sides drawing 1-1 at the Reebok Stadium, before Rovers won the return 3-0 at Ewood Park.

Rovers are quoted at 18-1 for the competition by one bookmaker with Sunderland at 66-1 and Wanderers way down on 80-1 - below teams such as Leicester, Sheffield United and Ipswich.
