THE Bolton Junior Badminton Christmas Tournament held at the Excel Centre showcased a wealth of young talent.

In the Under 16s, Adam Street beat Dominic Horrick in a close semi-final, with Tom Monk beating David Balmford in the other semi.

Tom's greater experience showed (he is coached by Phil Howe at Bolton Institute), and he eventually won 21-14 in an entertaining final.

In the combined under 16 and under 14 girls' events, Natalie Phillips won all five games to take the title, with Jade Domain runner-up under 16s and Kimberley Leather runner-up under-14s.

Under 14s boys' champion was Aug K Min who beat Jack McKay (one of three brothers taking part.) In the under 12s boys, Lewis Forster won the combined 11 and 12 age group, with eight year-old Jack Riley runner-up for the under 11s and Jack McKay for the under 12s.

Eight-year-old Annabel Leather easily took the girls' under 11s title, with Bettie Worth runner up.

The school team event was won by Bolton School, with St Joseph's Sports College, Horwich second and and George Tomlinson School, Kearsley, third.
