CHORLEY manager Mark Molyneaux says he is not fazed by tonight's trip to Morecambe, despite the Conference side's FA Cup exploits.

The Shrimps did well to earn a place in the third round, bowing out at Ipswich following a 4-0 defeat on Saturday.

But, just like the FA Cup, Molyneaux believes tonight's Lancashire FA Marsden Trophy clash at Christie Park could throw up a few surprises, considering North West Counties League Division Two side Darwen knocked Morecambe out of the competition last season.

"It's always nice to go and test yourselves against better players. They have a nice flat pitch and we're looking forward to playing there," Molyneaux said.

"I'm not sure what sort of team they'll put out after playing on Saturday. I suppose it depends whether their manager thinks they played well or not.

"If he was happy with their performance, then he might decide to rest some players and field a younger side. Either way we're looking forward to the game because we look forward to every game."

The Magpies' boss added that he had undertaken a mini scouting mission with the help of Match of the Day.

"I watched their highlights on television but we prefer to concentrate on ourselves," he said.

"It's a cup game and they are always one-offs so anything could happen."

And the Manchester City fan added: "I just wish we were playing City after their performance in the FA Cup yesterday."

Chorley are boosted by the return of midfielder Joe Murray, who has been absent in recent weeks due to work commitments, as they bid to bounce back from their 4-2 defeat at Belper on December 28.

They are also hopeful of striker Lee Wilkinson getting a run-out tonight (kick-off 7.45pm) after recovering from knee ligament damage sustained six weeks ago.

"We had a hiccup at Belper," Molyneaux said. "I don't think it was anything to do with Christmas. We just had a bad day at the office and that can happen at any time in the season. It was a case of dreadful defending and four individual errors cost us that day.

"So, with our game being called off against North Ferriby on Saturday, we are looking forward to the chance to hopefully put things right tonight, providing the game doesn't suffer from the cold weather."
