FOR the first time this season Rivington gained back to back victories in the Lancashire Amateur League with a 3-1 defeat of rivals Bolton County.

They dominated the early proceedings and it was no surprise when Steve McDonald opened the scoring with a well placed header after 15 minutes and grabbed a second with a thunderous volley from Adam Skelly five minutes from hal-time.

County bounced back and scored within minutes of the restart with a well placed header. With 10 minutes left Rivington were awarded their first penalty of the season when Danny Purnell was adjudged to have been fouled in the area and Andy Kennedy made sure from the spot.

Little Lever Sports Club maintained their push at the top with a 2-1 win over Rochdale St Clements. In a hard fought game two goals in as many minutes from Lee Valentine and Mick Jones was enough to see off a spirited Rochdale side.Commanding performances from centre-halves Steve Harland and new signing Stuart Hales look good for the rest of the season.

The Thirds lost 2-1 at Chaddertonians and the Fourths 2-0 at home to Thornleigh.
