THE jury in the case of two men accused of hijacking a postmaster and a bank manager in two separate armed robberies are due to start their deliberations today.

The judge was expected to finish his summing up this morning at Bolton Crown Court.

Ian Colin Parkinson, aged 27, of Gerald Drive, and 22-year-old David Richard Cullen, of Heaton Street, both in Salford, deny five charges of kidnapping, two counts of robbery and two charges of possessing an imitation firearm, namely a handgun, during the course of a robbery.

The robberies which netted £372,000, took place at Kearsley Post Office on January 31, and The Royal Bank of Scotland in Little Lever on September 11, 2001.

In both cases, a robber stowed away in the boots of the victims' cars before bursting into the vehicles and forcing the drivers at gunpoint to drive to their work, open the safe and hand over money.
