DISTINGUISHED actor, Sir Tom Courtenay, gives a personal insight into poet Philip Larkin in a world premiere production at the West Yorkshire Playhouse. Pretending To Be Me is an intimate and affectionate tribute to the poet, which blends Courtenay's personal reflections with fine examples of the celebrated writer's poetry.
The actor appears in the play, which runs until December 21, 7.45pm.
Pretending to be Me is set during one day of Larkin's life as he moves into his new home. The act of unpacking his things acts as a catalyst for memories and observations.
Hull-born Courtenay has compiled and will star in this production. He is one of the most celebrated actors of his generation appearing in films including The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner, Billy Liar, Dr Zhivago and The Dresser.
