WEST Ham boss Glenn Roeder admits that Saturday's crunch clash with fellow strugglers Bolton Wanderers does not "come any bigger".

The Hammers go into the game knowing that a win would see them leapfrog Sam Allardyce's men and avoid being bottom of the Premiership at Christmas - a position from which no club has escaped relegation since the league was formed.

However, Roeder's outfit are still looking for their first home win of the campaign and, after seeing his side pick up just two points from their last eight games, the under-pressure manager acknowledges that the match with Wanderers is huge.

Roeder said: "They are all massive games at the moment, but they certainly don't come any bigger than Bolton on Saturday. There are 20 games still to play and they are all massively important.

"The performances in the last five or six weeks have not picked up the points they have deserved.

"I will argue with anyone that says we have played poorly throughout, but we have not had any breaks. I can't complain about the effort the players are putting in and the football they are playing."

Roeder welcomes back former Liverpool and sunderland midfielder Don Hutchison after a 10-month injury lay-off.

Hutchison has been out of action since suffering knee ligament damage in a 1-0 win over Middlesbrough at Upton Park last February, which required surgery.

However, the Scotland international has battled back to fitness and, after playing 45 minutes of the reserves 1-1 draw with Fulham on Tuesday, insists he is ready to feature against Wanderers.

He said: "I came off at half-time just to make sure that I didn't get a knock.

"I feel fine and I'm ready to come back for what is a really big game on Saturday. Everybody here is pulling in the right direction and we all know that we have to stick together.

"But I think once we get the first home win under our belts, then everything will be fine."
