FOUR of Bolton's most well-known characters joined the town's most exclusive club last night.
The Mayor of Bolton, Cllr John Walsh, presented them with Bolton's Civic Medal in honour of their extensive work in the community.
Among them were husband and wife Marcus and Daphne Tillotson who each received the medal in recognition of their charity work.
Former headteacher Mr Leslie Huyton, aged 96, was given the top honour for a life of dedication to young people and education.
Garry Rhodes, leader of the Bolton Mountain Rescue Team, was also honoured.
Cllr Walsh said the awards were a way in which the public of Bolton could offer their thanks for the services the recipients had given to the town. The ceremony took place in the council chamber at Bolton Town Hall in front of councillors from across the borough.
