WANDERERS are united in their belief that they can challenge the Premiership's Big Three.

Sam Allardyce's men begin the most testing trio of games on Wednesday when they travel to Old Trafford before hosting Liverpool on Saturday and then going to Highbury seven days later.

Hopes that Wanderers can equal last season's seven-point haul from the equivalent fixtures are probably pie in the sky but the Reebok men aim to be anything but lambs to the slaughter.

Skipper Gudni Bergsson said: "If we were to get seven points from these games as we did last season we would be pleasantly surprised.

"We know it's going to be tough but these games seem to draw the best out of us."

Reflecting on getting their first points on the board with the victory over Aston Villa last time out, Bergsson added: "Knowing that we were coming up against possibly the best three sides in the league it was important to get three points from Villa.

"We showed great determination and now we've got to look at repeating that level of performance against the big teams."

Kevin Nolan, a goalscorer in that never to be forgotten Old Trafford victory last season, hoped: "They are not having the best of times so hopefully we can capitalise."
