MIKE Moir and Mark Ramsbottom won three sets apiece for Premier Division leaders Ramsbottom A, giving them a three point advantage over Hilton Tameside who won 7-2 at Little Lever, which included a treble by Phil Biggs.

Other trebles recorded this week by Steve Stringer for Lostock, Dave Griffiths and Louis Rosentall for Farnworth, and Terry Taylor and Larry Bainbridge for Rammy B.

Division One leaders Carlton lost 5-4 at Wharton B, but the current top ten leader Kevin Chapman won three sets for the losers. The win by Wharton moves them to joint second place along with Nomads A who won 7-2 at Wingates, trebles here by Craig Johnson and Dennis Collier. Steve Williams trebled for Chorley Old Road, as did John Scowcroft for Heaton A, but their teams lost by a 5-4 scoreline.

Top team in Division Two, Little Lever C, continued their good form with a comprehensive 8-1 win at Halliwell Meths, which included three wins by Ian Lansdale who is joint top ten leader with Derrick Buckley of Rammy C, who won 7-2 at Halls. Bottom team Hilton C recorded their first win of the season 6-3 against Ladybridge B, and are now only one point adrift of Rushtons, a treble here for Pete Bladen. Other trebles were recorded by Gareth Palmer for Nomads, Chris Higson and Steve Barber for Heaton D, and Mel Brooks for Egerton Park.

Meadow Hill A and Ladybridge D share top spot in Division Three. Ladybridge beat Farnworth 7-2 but lost against Little Lever 6-3, while Meadow Hill scored a comfortable 7-2 win over Ladybridge C. Trebles were recorded by Richard Hinchcliffe, Mark Martin, Phil Noden, and Steve Jones for their respective teams. Both John Kofi and Kirit Chauhan scored three wins for their teams Hilton G and Farnworth, who both lost, but Alan Crompton who won three sets for Heaton E was on the winning side.

The Heaton F trio of Mark Greenhalgh, Dave Bevitt and Glen Roberts scored maximum points at Ladybridge F to join Hilton I on the top of Division Four with 45 points, although the Hilton team have a match in hand. YMCA who retain third place won 7-2 at Jubilee, trebles here by Jack Quinn and Ray Wheatley. Maximum points were also scored by Hilton J and Ladybridge E, while the other three matches finished with a 5-4 scoreline. BEN B beating Meadow Hill despite a treble by Phil Yates for the losers, but the treble by Brian Lomax was decisive for Heaton G who won at Hilton L, and two wins apiece by Alan Hodgert and Phil Calvert plus one by Mike Aspinall gave BEN B their second win of the week at Hilton K. Joint top ten leaders are John Birchall Snr and Gilbert Wilkinson on 18 wins.
