BOLTON'S up-and-coming band Kinesis will support top rock group Manic Street Preachers at a sell-out London concert next month.

Thousands of fans are expected to pack the Brixton Academy on December 8 for the concert.

And Kinesis, who recently signed a six-figure recording deal with the Ministry of Sound, hope it will help to propel them into the big time.

The group has been hotly tipped by Bolton's Radio One DJs Mark Radcliffe and Mark 'Lard' Riley to make a major impact next year. The band will release its debut album in the spring.

Fingers are also being crossed that this week's new single release "Billboard Beauty" will make an impact on the UK Top 40.The song has been described by the group's publicity people as "a three minute rush of sheer intent" and it continues Kinesis' fondness for hitting out against the establishment by attacking the pressure placed on young people to lose weight and look like models.

Their previous two single releases, "And They Obey", and "Everything Destroys Itself" dealt with such weighty themes as hitting out against the rise of fascism.

Guitarist Conor, aged 17, said: "Playing in London will send our message out to a larger audience."

Conor and band members Michael (vocals), aged 18, Tom (bass), aged 18, and Neil (drums), aged 17, have played a host of gigs across the country including the Manchester Roadhouse.

They are among many bands to have voiced concern at the lack of a decent live venue in Bolton. Conor said groups had to travel to London to be noticed.

Kinesis, was formed in Bolton in the summer of 2000 and set about producing rock which has its roots firmly in the punk scene.
