BIRMINGHAM hope to follow Wanderers' lead by signing continental players on short-term deals to keep them in the Premiership.

Youri Djorkaeff and Fredi Bobic were key players in Wanderers' survival squad last season and the Blues are planning a similar move.

"We are looking at one or two continental stars who we will bring in on four to five-month deals," co-owner David Sullivan said. "It is a great way to sign players. It keeps them hungry."
