THIS picture demonstrates everything that is wrong with the National Lottery.

Michael Carroll -- an unemployed 19-year-old joyrider with an electronic ankle tag -- has won more than £9 million. He can't buy a car with it because he's banned from driving, and he won't be out on the town celebrating because he has to abide by a curfew.

At a time when organisations like Bolton Hospice and other vital causes around the country cannot benefit from Lottery cash, it seems completely wrong that he should.

It sounds very mean-spirited, but if his next move was to give away a million or two to charity you'd have to revive me with something far stronger than smelling salts.
