jobs will be created when a manufacturing firm relocates to the borough.

Porter Lancastrian is transferring its Bolton and Bamber Bridge operations to new headquarters at the Lower Healey Works site, Chorley.

It will mean the transfer of 120 jobs to the site, which has recently undergone a £500,000 renovation. Another 120 jobs are expected to be created through further expansion.

The firm, founded in Lancashire in 1936, manufactures products for the electronics, engineering, refrigeration and air conditioning industries. They also make drink dispenser equipment, bar-top display pumps and product plaques for pubs, and one of their novelty products are the beer badges used in Coronation Street's Rover's Return.

They even make cutting-edge TileVision flat-screened televisions, installed to fit flush with tile surfaces in bathrooms.

Allan Jones, chairman and chief executive, said: "This move is perfect as it gives us the extra space we need now and for the future to expand our business, but also because the new site is so well located next to the major road networks, meeting our transportation requirements." And the company say the move will not be disruptive as many of their existing employees already live in the borough.

Mr Jones added: "It will allow us to continue the good relationship we have with our staff. Hopefully the re-location will actually be far more convenient to the majority of them."

Jack Wilson, leader of Chorley Borough Council, said: "We believe that Chorley has a lot to offer to companies and it is excellent news that a company like Porter Lancastrian will now be part of an ever expanding and thriving business community in our borough."
