FOR the second week running, the weather got the better of the BSF Over 35s Football fixtures with only two Sam Ashworth Cup Second Round matches able to be played.
DIVISION One leaders Stand Athletic ran out comfortable winners against Second Division Horwich Town in the Sam Ashworth Cup second round.
They were 3-0 up at half time and another four goals in the second half gave them a 7-0 victory, two goals each for Maurice Thompson and Ian West being the backbone of their scoreline.
In the only other match completed, Third Division Dobbies C made a good game of it against First Division Dobbies A before eventually going down 3-0. Goals from Horribin, Moore and Mullen made sure the Division One team progressed to the last eight of the competition.

All other matches abandoned.
