HORWICH CC riders are hoping to take the North West Cyclo-Cross League team award for a second year running in the competitive and nine riders competed at in the opening meeting at Stadt Moers Park, Whiston.

In the under 12 race, Andrew Davies and new members Clare and Sophie Gore all competed, and finished in the top 10 while Liam Worthy, the current Youth League leader continued his good form with an excellent second place, only 30 seconds behind the winner.

In the senior event 45 riders took part, with Mark Leyland finishing third behind winner, Three Peaks Champion Rob Jebb (Team Ronhill). Dave Headon took 15th place, Ric Sale 18th, Dave Leyland 19th and first O/50, and Martin Jones 23rd.

This weekend sees the club riders competing at Otterspool Park, Liverpool, on Saturday. This is followed by the club's own promotion at Queens Park in Bolton. Racing starts at 11.45am. More information on 01204 417574.
