WHILE every parent in the country is still horrified about the deaths of Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman, I wonder if the action of Wendy and Paul Duvall is really the right way forward.

The couple from Reading in Berkshire are having an electronic micro-chip inserted into the arm of their 11 year-old daughter Danielle.

This is to help them trace her under all circumstances -- even if she is abducted.

While it is tempting to consider this kind of electronic help, I find this move horrifying.

Teaching them commonsense, ensuring you know where they are at all times and keeping a sense of both proportion and awareness have got to be the way forward.
