THE Golden Goal rule will apply in matches from the second round onwards to settle games which finish level after 90 minutes.
The match will have a maximum of 30 minutes extra time, and which ever side scores first wins. If neither team scores, it will be settled on penalties.
Laurent Blanc scored the first and so far only golden goal in a World Cup, as France beat Paraguay 1-0 in the second round four years ago.
