INTERNET Editor Chris Sudlow is kicking himself after picking three outsiders to win World Cup groups - and neglecting to put any dosh on the selection.
Writing before the tournament on our World Cup Pages BETTING section, he said:
"My outsider tips to do well at this stage are Denmark in Group A at 7-1, Turkey in Group C at 7-2, South Korea in Group D at 6-1, and dare I say it, Sweden at 13-2 in Group F" HERE
Only Turkey have let him down, and even they qualified - in second place behind favourites Brazil.
He said: "I've had a bit of a bad run on the horses, so decided against putting cash on my selections to subsidise our friendly local bookmakers holiday plans even more."
But how much would he have won? A £1 stake on that particular treble pays 273-1 - in real terms, £273, plus the £1 stake, of course!!!
In time honoured fashion there is only one response from our man.
"I'm gutted," he said.
