Horwich RMI Harrier Brendon Bolland continued his winning ways with victory at last Sunday's Fell Dancer Noonstone Fell Race.

This win followed his recent excellent first place in the Winter Hill Fell Race. The nine mile south Pennine course, with over 2,300 feet of climbing saw Brendon battle with top fell runner Steve Oldfield (Bradford and Airedale).

However, Brendon felt he was running well within himself and coasted to another well deserved victory. Team-mate Chris Seddon ran an excellent race to finish eighth, with Pete Houghton in 42nd.

At the Northern Vets Cross Country Championships held in Wakefield, Horwich RMI Harrier Audrey Foster ran brilliantly to pull though the field to finish second Vet/50, despite running the 10K Parbold Hill Race the day before.

Meanwhile Bolton UH came a creditable ninth in the O/50 men's race, with Michael Barnes, Kenneth Mayor and Brian Court the counted runners.

Results - 1. B Bolland (Horwich RMI) 71.20; 2. S Oldfield V/40 (Bradford Airedale) 71.27; 8. C Seddon (Horwich RMI) 79.24; 42. P Houghton 88.04.
