A BOLTON Euro MP has called for swift European Union action in response to USA steel import tariffs.

Chris Davies says the US has shown blatant disregard for British and European concerns.

He said: "This is the behaviour of the schoolyard bully. It is a clear breach of World Trade Organisation rules and an example of the US tearing up agreements to suit itself."

The Liberal Democrat said Britain's steel industry was suffering already because of the relative strength of the pound made exporting to eurozone countries difficult.

He claims the loss of sales to the US market because of the new 25 pc tariffs could be the final nail in the coffin.

The European Commission is planning to make an appeal to the WTO.
