IN a recent letter, Malcolm Bristow said that if disabled badge holders familiarised themselves with the conditions of use, they would not get issued with parking tickets.
He actually blamed badge holders for making the warden's job more difficult than it already is. "Read the rules, it won't take long. I had to!" he says.
I cannot remember when I last read such a load of balderdash! Mr Bristow must be the only person in Bolton ever to have said a word in favour of these wardens, other than perhaps close relatives and employers.
The majority of motorists are not idiots. They do not deliberately park illegally. There is usually a genuine reason why.
A friend of ours recently parked in town, only to realise she had no change for the meter. She hurried off to get some and hadn't gone more than a few yards when out popped a warden and slapped a ticket on her windscreen. Our friend ran back to explain, but to no avail.
A difficult job, Malcolm? The only difficult part about it that I can imagine is getting to sleep at night!
