A MOTHER is refusing to send her son to school after a series of death threats -- made by a primary school boy -- were left on their answerphone.

Yogini Mistry, aged 35, was horrified when she heard the first message which warned her: "I'll kill you." A second, exactly 15 minutes later, said: "I will kill you. I watch you when you get undressed."

It is thought the boy making the calls could be as young as 10.

Detectives traced the caller and today confirmed that a boy had been interviewed in connection with the phone threats. The boy has been given a formal warning.

The BEN understands that the boy is a pupil of Bolton's Church Road Primary School where Miss Mistry's son, Niki, aged 10, is a pupil.

She is also claiming that her son has been racially abused and bullied at the school and has vowed to keep him home until the pupils responsible are punished.

Single mum Miss Mistry has revealed that she has received several death threats targeting her and Niki. Over the next hour and a half the phone pest left a further four death threats in menacing voices which were caught on the answerphone.

Miss Mistry, a personal assistant for a law firm, said: "I was completely shocked to think that a child would say such things. It was disgusting.

"I feel the calls were directed at my son who has been suffering from bullying for months. I have been into the school several times but they don't want to know.

"Niki has started acting up at school and he is very angry all the time but he's not like that normally. He's a clever boy and a good student.

"I am just not willing to send him back to even more bullying. It is time the school does something really positive to stop this."

Miss Mistry said she thought the bullying, which she claims was carried out by three pupils, could be motivated by race.

"Why should he have to put up with that when he should be studying for his SATS tests this year? I am worried about keeping him off school but have no choice. "

A spokeswoman for Greater Manchester Police said: "An officer did go round and spoke to the child who had made the phone calls and his parents.

"He was given a verbal warning but we are not taking it any further. Miss Mistry was able to tell us who was responsible and we went round and dealt with it."

Stuart Hodson, headteacher at Church Road School, said: "I have had no contact from police telling me that one of my pupils is responsible for this. Besides, it is an internal matter.

"If she is keeping her son off school it is up to her. In terms of absence we will be following the normal procedures of the school."

In a letter he has asked to meet Miss Mistry to discuss the situation and requested that she kept Niki at home until then.

A spokesman for Bolton Council said they would only get involved if Niki's absence from school became prolonged.
