PAUL Warhurst believes fans were seeing two England strikers of the future at the Reebok writes Neil Bonnar

Michael Ricketts and West Ham's Jermain Defoe could be international colleagues for years to come according to the Wanderers midfielder.

There has been a growing campaign to persuade England boss Sven Goran Eriksson to give the Reebok goal ace a chance at international level.

Warhurst believes the Reebok striker has the quality to take his career up a level and he also suspects teenage scoring sensation Defoe will be right there alongside him in future England squads.

"They are both very good players," said Warhurst.

"Defoe went on loan to the lower divisions and has come back a much better player.

"He is doing well at the moment but I hope he doesn't show what he can do against us.

"Michael can go all the way. He has got confidence, inner confidence and a bit of arrogance that you need.

"If he fulfils his potential he will be one hell of a player.

"He has got everything. He can finish with his left foot, his right and his head and he can have the world at his feet.

"They will both probably have to wait until next season before they break through with England although it's not too late for this season. There are still a lot of games left and if they keep banging the goals in and playing as they are you never know."
