A PEDESTRIAN has been killed in a road accident on the A59 Liverpool Road at Bretherton.

The 20-year-old man, who has not be named, was walking between Plox Farm and a roundabout at 9.45pm on Monday when he was involved in a collision with a car.

The man who lived in Preston had been visiting a friend in Hesketh Bank that evening and was walking back towards Preston when the incident occurred.

He received multiple injuries and was pronounced dead on the scene.

A vehicle involved had stopped at the scene, but police are to continue investigations to determine the precise cause of events.

A post-mortem was carried out on Tuesday (February 5). The road was closed for five hours.
