A LODGER took £1,000 worth of furniture from a house and sold it to feed his drug habit, a court was told.

Bury magistrates heard that Iain Gray, aged 22, sold a fridge freezer, cooker, carpets, table, chairs, wardrobes and cabinets.

His landlord had called at the house in Walmersley Road, which Gray was then suppose to be renting. He found someone else there and saw that all the items had gone missing.

Gray, who is now living in Lancaster, pleaded guilty to theft. The case was adjourned until December 10 for a pre-sentence report to be prepared.
