BOLTON FORM

Bolton have been the surprise package of the Premiership beating Manchester Unitedand Liverpool and drawing at Arsenal and Leeds. As with Ipswich last season theplay-off side has so far bested the champions but if we win our game in hand we areonly one point behind. Eyebrows were raised last season when Sam Alladyce wasoffered a 10-year contract but he has done a tremendous job, especially as he hasbeen relatively passive in the market.

TEAM & TACTICS

At home the Wanderers play 4-4-2 and use a 4-5-1 away. Rod Wallace normally partners the prolific Michael Ricketts up front. Veteran Paul Warhurst and Per Frandsen anchor the central midfield. Frandsen, as we recall from the Cottage, takes a meanf ree kick from distance. Nolan is the attacking midfielder whilst the Reggae BoyRiccardo Gardner provides pace and width. The Trotters have a problem in goal. They have fielded no less than six with Poole the present occupant. In defence the Frenchman N'Gotty, the veteran Bergsson, Whitlow and Charlton have provided astable unit.

LAST SEASON

Our visit to the Reebok was part of our superb 11 match winning start to the season.Luis Boa Morte scored twice, in between the ground was struck by a monsoon. At Fulham Per Frandsen scored from a dodgy free kick awarded for a supposed foul on Dean Holdsworth for both sides to share the spoils in a 1-1 draw.

FROM THE PAST

One of the oddest games between the two clubs was a League Cup replay at St Andrews in October, 1976. The referee played eight minutes extra time, sent Bobby Moore off and the Trotters won 2-1.
