Wanderers-mad staff at a nursing home banned their residents from wearing red on the big match day.

And they even guessed the correct scoreline!

Staff at the ironically named Red Bank home in Doffcocker decided to support Sam Allardyce' s men by making sure not an inch of Manchester United's home colours are on show

The 27 elderly women are not arguing with the order, because they are all massive fans of the Whites.

Ann Jackson, a care assistant and season ticket holder at the Reebok Stadium, came up with the idea.

She said: "I have told the night staff not to put out any red clothes for them to wear.

"The ladies all thought it was a good idea. They are all Wanderers supporters. They are always reading about the match in the newspapers on a Sunday and talking about the game."

The Chorley Old Road nursing home has been a shrine to the Wanderers in the past.

On visits to Wembley Ann has decorated the building in white balloons before travelling south to watch the team.

She said the residents have been impressed with Bolton's good start to the Premiership.

She added: "They think it is brilliant and hope they keep going. They haven't got a favourite player, but they love Big Sam."

And what about a prediction from the ladies for the big derby game ?

"They would love it to be 2-1 to Bolton," she said.
