A TEENAGER told a trial how she saw two neighbours, a man and a woman, fighting on the doorstep.

The girl said she saw Susan Tuke and Ian Black "scrapping" at Tuke's front door after Black had rebuked Tuke over her language.

The fight happened after Black had gone to see Tuke after she had allegedly described his 12 year-old daughter as a "slapper."

Black claimed Tuke spat in his face when he confronted her and then smashed a sherry glass in his face.

Tuke, aged 36, now of St James Street, Farnworth, appeared at Bolton Crown Court on the second day of her trial.

Tuke denies unlawfully wounding Ian Black at her former address on Telford Crescent, Leigh, last December.

The girl said she saw Black knocking on Tuke's door and then on the window. When Tuke came to the door the girl said the pair began arguing.

Punching

They were slapping and punching each other and Tuke tried to go back inside her house but Black grabbed her arm and dragged her back to the doorstep.

She saw that Tuke was holding a glass and as Black grabbed her arm she heard the sound of glass smashing.

Black claimed Tuke had been drinking. He asked her to moderate her language but she became abusive to him and spat in his face.

Black told police he thought she was going to hit him again so he punched her in the face and left to get help. He needed stitches to his chin and the inside his mouth.

When interviewed Tuke about the incident she said she could not remember anything other than having an argument with Ian Black.

Officers noticed that she had a tooth missing and her lips were swollen. She said she could not remember how she had received her injuries.
