SAM Allardyce was dismayed after being told Wanderers have no right of appeal over Ricardo Gardner's red card at Arsenal.

The Reebok boss had hoped the FA's video appeal panel would review the incident which led to the Jamaican international being sent off for denying Gunners' striker Dennis Bergkamp a goalscoring opportunity in Saturday's 1-1 draw at Highbury.

Gardner now serves an automatic one match ban which will rule him out of the Worthington Cup tie at home to Nottingham Forest on October 8.

"We've been told there is no right of appeal against a one match ban," Allardyce confirmed, "so they will not be looking at the video.

"We've got to swallow it ... just like we have to swallow so many things these days.

"It's very disappointing when you know that there was no intent and, in my opinion, no foul."
