THE claim that ID Cards can help prevent terrorism is based on a false assumption, namely that terrorists sneak into a country, days before they carry out an attack.
Terrorists, like spies, live here for years, often decades, developing perfectly respectable lives. They have wives, children, jobs, bank accounts, etc.
They don't arrive here a few days before they carry out an attack, with a suitcase full of explosives. That only happens in James Bond movies!
