A COUNCILLOR has slammed unsightly weeds growing around the stone lions at the steps of the town hall.
At a council meeting Conservative councillor John Walsh said: "These weeds are 18 inches wide and two foot high. If we cannot tackle the problems on our own doorstep, is it any wonder that other areas in Bolton are such a mess?"
But Labour Cllr Michael Kilcoyne said Cllr Walsh was being opportunistic in bringing up the problem.
He said: "Of course weeds will grow during a summer like this. Our grounds maintenance partnership is working and working well."
