League ready to roll once again

ALL registration forms for men's teams intending to play in the Bolton Darts League in aid of the Bolton Senior Gateway Club for Mentally Handicapped Adults, should be sent to the Secretary, Mr Brian Holden, 25 Delamere Gardens, Halliwell, Bolton, BL1 8AU, or left at the League Headquarters, Moonlight Club, St George's Road, Bolton, by Friday, September 7.

This date is also the final closing date to enter the Winter Season 2001/2002, which should get under way at the beginning of October. The League has been running for 27 years, and has raised thousands of pounds for the charity it supports.

League rules for the men will be as usual -- 15 legs 501, individual throwing, five-a-side, seven points to play for every match, plus an individual table for each section, two points each winner and aggregate will count.

The normal section for men will hopefully be formed again if enough teams enter, with the same rules as above.

The League subscriptions for the season remain at £60. The throwing distance will be the official mark of seven feet nine and a quarter inches. Any team which has not received a League registration form for the Winter Season should contact Brian Holden immediately on 496242.

There has been a good response for the Ladies and Men's Winter Format, which will take place once again at the Moonlight Club, St George's Road, on Thursday and Friday evenings.

They will play for themselves in sections of 10 or more players. Games will be 501 playing all three legs, two points each winner and aggregate to count. Some ladies and men will throw from seven feet nine and a quarter inches, and some from seven feet and seven feet six inches. Any player can still enter this format, we still have a few vacancies, please contact Eva Holden immediately for more information on 496242.

Four cup competitions will be run throughout the season -- Individuals, Round The Board, Pairs, and Mixed Pairs. Every lady and man player will receive a prize at the end of the season.

Also, a winter season format for ladies and men will take place at the RAOB Club, Derby Street, on Friday night. They will play for themselves throughout the season. Games will be 501 playing all three legs, two points for each winner and aggregate to count. Any players interested in playing in this event should contact Cliff and Pat Boardman on 366091. Also they can enter by putting their names on a list at the RAOB Club. Closing date for entries is Friday, September 7.

At the League's Annual Presentation Event on Thursday August 9, at the Rugby Club, Avenue Street, Brian and Eva Holden presented a special thank you gift to their best friend Mr Natu Mistry and a large bouquet to Mrs Mistry. Ladies Outstanding Player was Gina Jones and the Men's Outstanding Player was Steve Finch.

The Gary Holden Memorial Shield was won by Natu Mistry. Six personal awards were given out by the League Secretary to Eva Holden, Dawn Lowe, Mabel Macari, Pat Boardman, Mavis Naylor and Cliff.

Also on the evening, the Bolton Darts League Secretary Brian Holden, handed over a cheque for £1,108 to the Bolton Senior Gateway Club, of which £1,000 was raised by Eva Holden and all her lady darts players, who were involved in the winter format at the Moonlight Club. The £108 was raised by Mick Meanley by dressing up as a lady.

Brian and Eva would like to thank very much all the darts players (our friends) for the special gifts that were presented to us on the evening.
