Peers triumph ONE could be forgiven for forgetting that the Peers v Jammie Dodgers match was a relegation battle. Both teams played a relaxed, friendly game, which was won by accurate shooting from Peers G.S. Lisa Higgins.

There was never more than a handful of goals separating the scores but the Peers team got into their stride earlier in the game than the Dodgers and stayed ahead throughout.

Section C also boasted another tight match as BIHE took on BUPA A. With only one goal in their favour at half time, BIHE dug in and tied to up their performance a gear. BUPA stayed with them, matching them goal for goal until the final whistle saw both teams tie 20-20.

Yes, the scorecard really did have a 1-1 draw as the result, but the atrocious weather late on Tuesday was to blame -- not the shooting. Tom Bridge and Wingates agreed to the draw as it will have little effect on the final placings in their section.

Tyldesley were in fine form at the other end of the table beating BUPA B 25-20 and moving up to second place.

A makeshift Olympia team with only two regulars and three players making their debut came unstuck against the sharp shooting of CBs. Growing in confidence CBs played some of their best ever netball and looked worthy winners 14-24.

Bolton Pianos earned victory the hard way with a team consisting of only six players. Higsons kept it close but could not capitalise with their extra player, the eventual score being 22-26 against them.

Another team coming into form late in the season is Dreams and Drapes. They secured a much-needed five points in their surprise victory over Sharples. Coming from behind, Sharples very nearly levelled the game but must draw consolation from their unassailable second position and promotion slot.
