Redmayne & Bentley Bolton Association Adlington and the rain were the only winners on a day of frustration.

Not one match was completed as players were on and off pitches like a football on the centre spot at Leicester City.

Leaders Walshaw stay 30 points clear of Atherton as everyone apart from Adlington picked up the minimum six points.

Adlington collected an extra four as the doubling of the bonus points system kicked in for them because more than 24 overs were bowled in the second innings.

It extended their lead over fourth placed Clifton to 10 points but still left them 51 points behind the top club.

Pro Matthew Taylor smashed 59 and Scott Henderson 28 as Adlington declared on 138-6 off 44 overs before Golborne reached 118-8 off 29 overs before the rain came in.

Michael Cullen hit a fine 50 before Golborne really began to struggle in the gathering gloom, their last three wickets all going the same way - stumped by Michael Flatters from the bowling of Scott Henderson.

Atherton were denied a glorious chance of closing the gap on Walshaw by Little Hulton pro Ijaz Mahmood.

His side was struggling in the 80s with six wickets gone when rain forced them off the field. When they returned Ijaz put Atherton to the sword with a swashbuckling performance which saw him fall just four short of a super century.

With the target much bigger and the time in which to get it much shorter, Atherton's chances of adding further spice to the title race were gone.

Desperate

They only had time to get 12 overs in and reached 87-3 with pro Greg Dimery following up his 4-63 in the first innings with an unbeaten 49.

Daisy Hill were in desperate need of help against Standish when they stood on 81-9. And they got it from last pair Andy Clarke and Neil Redford, a couple of second team opening bowlers called in for the day because they were short of players.

They staged a last wicket stand of 53 with Redford hitting 31 and Clarke 21 to take the score on to 134 before everyone packed up and went home without Standish batting.

There were no second innings at Blackrod or Darcy Lever. Neil Lawless hit a half century as Blackrod made 100-6 against Lostock and Astley and Tyldesley scored 113-2 at Darcy. Anthony joins the 100 club IT was a memorable day for Walshaw wicketkeeper Anthony Harris who scored his maiden senior century with a magnificent unbeaten knock of 106 as the Bury men posted a target of 186-1 declared off 30 overs, Gary Dyson adding 46.

Their local rivals Elton responded with 100-2 with pro Chris Hall scoring 44 not out in the 19 overs they managed to squeeze in before the rain fell.

There was some fine batting at Spring View where the home team's pro Arindam Sarkar and Steven Williams were unbeaten on 50 and 47 before the rain ended the day's play against Clifton with View on 107-1 and the visitors unable to bat.
