TWO pensioners have received free season tickets to see Bolton Wanderers in action in the Premiership.

Norman Wilkinson, aged 94, and Molly Green, aged 91, are the first supporters to qualify for a new scheme which rewards fans who have reached the age of 90 and who have been season ticket holders for at least the last five years with a free season ticket.

Norman, of Birtenshaw Crescent, Bromley Cross, was nominated by his carer Agnes Maguire, while Molly, of Leigh Road, Westhoughton, was put forward by Brian Kenny, chairman of Bolton Wanderers Disabled Support Group, of which she is a member.

They were presented with their season tickets by the Wanderers mascot Lofty the Lion.

Molly's son-in-law, Jeff Moore said: "Molly became a fan around 70 years ago, after getting fed up of her husband always wanting his dinner on the table so he could rush out to matches.

"One evening, she left his dinner on the back step and decided to go to a match herself. It was a case of 'if you can't beat them join them', and she has been a fan ever since. I am really pleased she has been given this ticket."

Wanderers commercial director Gareth Moores said: "Fans of that age have many memories of Bolton Wanderers and have supported the club for years.

"They have seen the club go through good times and bad times and we think it is fantastic that at that age they still regularly attend home matches to cheer on their favourite team.

"We felt that it was time we gave them something back and this really goes to show that football attracts all ages.

"We hope that other supporters who are 90 or over and have held a season ticket for the last five years will contact us so they too can receive this benefit."

Norman said: "I'm very pleased -- I have been a season ticket holder since 1989, attend every single home game and even go by bus. I am an absolute Wanderers fanatic."

Molly added: "It's a great great gesture by the club to give these season tickets as a thank you for our support."

Those who qualify for the scheme should contact Katrina Davis or Paul Holliday on 673675.
