Dear Neil,

HOWICH SWIMMING CLUB.

I notice that the BEN sometimes includes Club logos in colour on its reports so I am attaching ours - not sure how you feel about yellow. Do you store this for future use or should I send it each time I send a report?

SUCCESS FOR Horwich SWIMMERS AT NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS.

FOURTEEN swimmers from Horwich Leisure Centre ASC, aged between 11 and 16 years old, qualified for this year's National Age Group Swimming Championships which took place at Sheffield's 50 metre Ponds Forge pool recently.

The 'Nationals' are the height of achievement for every young swimmer and the ability to swim a National Qualifying Time places a swimmer, previous years indicate, among the top 30 to 50 swimmers in the country in their age group and stroke.

Swimming as part of the elite Bolton Metro Swim Squad, the Horwich swimmers performed superbly against very high quality opposition. Highlights of 'Nationals' week for Horwich were 3rd place for Lucy Finn (14) in the 800m freestyle, 3rd place for Karl Holland (15) in the 200m breaststroke, 4th place for Ben Johnson (16) in the 200m butterfly, 6th place for David Jones (15) in the 1500m freestyle, 9th place for Sean Rushton (14) in both the 50m and 200m butterfly and 10th place for Andrew Kilby (12) in the 400m freestyle.

In the relays, Louise Allmark, Rachel Hildyard and Rebecca Hobson, all from Horwich, teamed up with Ashley Wilcock from Bolton ASC to come fifth in the 12 year old girls Medley Relay competiton.

Lee Stringfellow, Horwich's chief Coach, said: "For one Club to get fourteen swimmers to the Nationals is a great achievement and to have nine 'top 10' swimmers is unbelievably good. It just shows the strength of swimming in the Bolton area"
