THE body of a 45-year-old man who had been missing from home has been found in a canal near Adlington.
An underwater police search team found the body of John Fairhurst yesterday afternoon in the Leeds and Liverpool canal, near to Aberdeen Bridge, south of Adlington.
His death is not being treated as suspicious and the coroner has been informed.
Mr Fairhurst, who had been treated for depression, went missing from his home in Grafton Street, Adlington, last Friday.
He was an experienced walker and a frequent visitor to beauty spots such as Rivington and Anglezarke.
The police expressed their thanks to Bolton Mountain Rescue for their help in the search.
